A ten minute ride in a dolmus (local mini bus) will take you to Oludeniz, which features the beautiful blue lagoon, set at the end of a long beach of golden sand. There is a stunning backdrop of mountains that provide the perfect launch pad for paragliding down to the beach below. The small town alongside the beach provides a variety of restaurants and bars, creating a wonderful atmosphere for those sun worshippers that can tear themselves away from the edge of a warm clear blue sea.
A fifteen minute ride in a dolmus in the other direction will take you to Fethiye, the largest town in the area, a busy, bustling main port and yet still very much an ancient town with cobbled streets. You can’t help but admire the yachts that jostle for position along the harbour wall as their owners enjoy a fabulous range of restaurants alongside. On Tuesday, a huge open air market serves all manner of fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, meat, dairy produce, clothes, shoes, gifts and memorabilia and bartering for the best deal only adds to the fun.
